The benefits of green hydrogen are endless. It can power vehicles, trucks and ships. But it can also power the industry, utility buildings, homes and ports. Not least important, it is a viable way of storing variable energy generated by wind and solar farms. All without carbon emissions. Hydrogen can therefore become a serious part of our clean future. What is not to like?

GREEN HYDROGEN OFFERS AMPLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY STORAGE

While the world is aiming to decarbonise, an increasing share of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar are necessary to reduce carbon emissions.
However, renewable energy sources face many difficulties. Solar and wind energy are dependent on weather conditions and time of day or year. Due to this relatively unstable way of electricity production there might be excessive electricity available which is not used, or it might be that there is too little electricity production when people need it.

GREEN HYDROGEN REDUCES GRID CONGESTION PROBLEMS

Green hydrogen can play a key role in reducing congestion problems in the electricity grid. Renewable energy generators can use their additional electricity capacity to produce hydrogen for storage. Different from electricity production by wind and solar, green hydrogen is not limited by real-time demand and can be stored and used when needed. Green hydrogen production and storage may thereby also increase the number of possibilities available for the development of local and regional renewable energy projects.

GREEN HYDROGEN IS A 100% ZERO EMISSIONS ENERGY CARRIER

Green hydrogen end-to-end processes do not emit any greenhouse gases. It is a 100% zero emissions energy carrier.

GREEN HYDROGEN

hydrogen-picture_edited.jpg
  • Hydrogen is an abundant element on earth. Yet, all the hydrogen we use must be generated as there are no natural stores of hydrogen in the state that we can use it.

  • Hydrogen is clean, safe, and its abundance around is allows us to locally generate it, for all sorts of use such as transportation, heating and power generation.

  • Green hydrogen is completely free of emissions. This technique generates hydrogen via electrolysis. The electricity provided to produce hydrogen is provided from renewable energy sources - such as wind and solar energy - or green electricity from the grid. Electrolysis is a technique through which electric currents are passed throug water (H2O), splitting water (H2O) into oxygen (O2) and hydrogen (H2). It is a crucial alternative to the use of fossil fuels.

CLEAN FUEL

hydrogen-picture.jpg
  • Hydrogen is a high efficiency and zero emission fuel. It completely eliminates CO2 emissions and other gases such as NOx and CO.

  • Hydrogen-powered vehicles are powered by an electric motor and equipped with a fuel cell which turns hydrogen into electricity and heat.

  • Hydrogen-powered vehicles emit zero CO2, they only release water (H2O).

  • Hydrogen as a fuel source has an energy conversion rate 2-3 times more efficient than conventional engines. You can drive further on less fuel.
